Tattoo Aftercare

Your tattoo can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks to heal completely depending on the overall size, color, and detail of the tattoo.

Follow aftercare accordingly to ensure your tattoo heals correctly.

Washing Your Tattoo

  • Wash your hands prior to care.

  • Once you are home, wash your tattoo with warm water and unscented, antibacterial soap.

  • Wash your tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap once a day upon regular showering routine. You do not need to wash it more unless you are sweating or performing a task where the tattoo did/can get dirty.

Tattoo Healing

  • Once the tattoo starts to peel, place a small amount of moisturizer on it 1-2 times a day or as needed for dryness. Do not smother your tattoo! Less is more, I promise. Make sure you are rubbing the moisturizer all the way in, do not cake it on top of your tattoo.

  • DO NOT PICK THE SCABS - let them fall off naturally.

  • You may use any of the following to moisturize:

    • Coconut Oil

    • Unscented lotion

    • Aquaphor

Things To Avoid

  • Avoid swimming, bathing, and any soaking of your tattoo until it has fully healed/finished peeling. Your tattoo is considered an open wound for the first 4 weeks of the healing process & soaking it will result in infection.

  • DO NOT expose your tattoo to direct sunlight for at least the first year without sunscreen. This will cause the color to fade/change. Sunscreen cannot be put on the tattoo until it has fully healed.

Failure to follow aftercare instructions can/will result in infection, fading, uneven healing, scaring.

Tattoos are a permanent body modification, effects from poor aftercare can be permanent. Sanctum Tattoos LLC is notre not responsible for poor healing in the case that you did not care for your tattoo properly.

After your tattoo is fully healed at least 6 weeks past the day you received it, you can contact your artist for a touch up!

Prices may vary.
